Navigator PathWay

The Navigator Pathway is designed for students who benefit from structured routines, scaffolded academic
instruction, and targeted support while demonstrating readiness for increased independence and engagement in small-group learning.

Students work to strengthen essential reading, writing, and math skills while beginning to engage with grade-
level content at a pace that matches their individual learning needs. Instruction blends explicit teaching, guided practice, and supported independent work to promote academic growth and confidence.

how learning works

Instruction in English Language Arts and Math is delivered through a structured rotation model that supports differentiation and active participation.

Students engage in:

  • Teacher-led small-group
    instruction
  • Supported independent
    practice
  • Technology-enhanced learning
    aligned to individual academic
    needs

This model allows students to build foundational skills while gradually increasing independence and responsibility for learning.

Social-Emotional

Navigator students continue to demonstrate the need to further develop social-emotional skills. For Kindergarten – 3rd grade, we use a combination of the Zones of Regulation Curriculum and the Leader in Me curriculum. For 4th-12th grade, we use the Leader In Me curriculum to develop social skills in our students.

We use continue to use positive behavior techniques, token economy systems, first/then boards, and Lion Cash to help shape behaviors in our classes.

As students progress through the pathway, we begin to decrease the prompting with these supports and
move towards independence with social-emotional skills.
